32 FOURTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT

A list of the agencies whose records were offered to the Hall of
Records Commission under the terms of the disposal law and report of
the action taken follows:

ADJUTANT GENERAL

On April 21, 1949, we were informed through the Secretary of the
Board of Public Works that the Adjutant General wished to dispose of
certain records located in the basement of the Fifth Regiment Armory in
Baltimore. Careful examination of the material revealed that none of it
was worth preserving in the Hall of Records. At the end of the year a
list was being prepared by the Adjutant General to accompany a formal
request for permission to destroy the records.

BALTIMORE CITY SUPERIOR COURT

On December 2, 1948, the Clerk of the Superior Court of Baltimore
City offered us a large quantity of records stored in the basement of the
Courthouse. Some of the material is valuable, but action was deferred
until the effective date of new legislation, which at that time had not yet
been introduced.

COMPTROLLER OF THE TREASURY

On August 9, 1948, we examined the records of the Comptroller of
the Treasury which were located in the basement of the Court of Appeals
building, which was being remodeled for use of the legislature. The records
worth preserving were transferred (see list of accessions) and the remain'
der left where they were. Later on the Comptroller informed us that
the records listed below were sold as waste paper on September 8, 1948,
and subsequently destroyed.

Certificates of Deposits—State Departments and Boards, 1931-1937, 13
boxes (11" x 8" x 25"). (An account of monies collected by various
State Departments, Boards, etc., from licenses, fees, etc., and deposited
with the Comptroller.)

Clerks of Court—Allegany—Worcester, 1928-1936, 5 boxes (11" x 8" x-
25"). (Monthly Reports of Clerks of Court showing number of each
type of license sold.)

Registers—Allegany—Worcester, 1931-1936, 5 boxes (11" x 8" x 25").
(Monthly Reports of Taxes collected by Registers of Wills.)
