PUBLIC AND PROFESSIONAL RELATIONS
VISITORS AND VISITS
Among the distinguished visitors to the Hall of Records this year
were the Misses Ana and Emilia Rueda of the staff of the National
Archives of Colombia at Bogota; Mr. Leon de Valinger, Archivist of
Delaware; Dr. Wayne C. Grover, Archivist of the United States; Dr.
Ernst Posner, Professor of History and Government at American Univer-
sity; Dr. A. F. Kuhlman, Director Joint Universities Libraries, Nashville,
Tennessee; Professor Richard L. Morton, Chairman of the History Depart-
ment of William and Mary College.
The Archivist and the two Assistant Archivists attended the joint
meeting of the American Historical Association and the Society of Ameri-
can Archivists in Washington, December 28, 1948, and Mr. Skordas
attended the Annual Meeting of the Society of American Archivists at
Raleigh, October 27-29. Mr. Thomas visited the Manuscripts Division of
the New York Public Library and the Archivist examined the holdings of
the Georgia Archives and Historical Commission at Atlanta.
COURSE IN ARCHIVES ADMINISTRATION
We cooperated this year, as in the past, with the American Univer-
sity and the National Archives in offering an intensive training program
in the preservation and administration of archives. The class spent three
days in Annapolis where they studied Calendaring, Repair and Preser-
vation, Photographic Equipment, and Indexing. The students came from
all parts of the country as the classroll which follows will indicate:
