ACCESSIONS FROM PRIVATE SOURCES
Outstanding among the items received from private sources are
four commissions presented by Mrs. George Cobb and Mrs. James H.
Lovell of the Claude family. The commissions were issued to Dennis
Claude. Two of them are signed by Presidents Jefferson and Madison
and the other two by Governors Bowie and Hicks.
Several photostat copies of muster and pay rolls of various Mary-
land troops in the Revolution were presented by Mr. George A. Martin.
A printed list of the members of the General Assembly which met in
Frederick during the Civil War was acquired by purchase. It attracted
considerable attention at the exhibit held in Frederick during the cele-
bration of the two-hundredth anniversary of the establishment of
Frederick County.
