the fiscal year. She had previously been retired for reasons of
health on November 1, 1945.

FINANCIAL STATEMENT

In my last Annual Report I called attention to the fact that
the Board of Public Works had permitted us to carry over into
the fiscal year 1947 our budget item No. 208 A, which had been
appropriated for publication in the fiscal year 1945. In the
course of the present year $665.50 of this amount was expended
for printing Publication No. 4, and $523,51 was paid to the
Library of Congress as our share of the cost of making micro-
film copies of records for the Huntington Library and the Brit-
ish Museum. The balance, $1310.93, was reverted to the Gen-
eral Funds of the State on January 1, 1947.

The same budget item for 1946 was also carried forward into
the fiscal year 1947. Of the total amount of $2,500, there was
expended for the printing costs of Publication No. 5 the sum of
$1,332. The balance of $1,168 was reverted to the General Funds
on July 11, 1947. Of the remainder of the appropriation for
1946, $16.69, which had been reserved to pay for materials con-
tracted for before the end of the fiscal year, was reverted Feb-
ruary 20, 1947. It should be noted also that an additional sum of
$6,379 was also reverted. This amount represents those budget
items which were frozen when the Hall of Records transferred
maintenance of the building to the Superintendent of Public
Buildings and Grounds.
