$4 TENTH ANNUAL REPORT

lected by the late George Forbes were presented to the Hall of
Records by Mrs. Forbes. There was received also a very curious
collection of letters written to an Irish newspaper by an Irish
Revolutionary from Washington during the Civil War years.
Purchases included a collection of 61 maps of Maryland and the
Chesapeake Bay Country. It is our hope that this purchase will
form a nucleus for a useful map collection heretofore lacking at
the Hall of Records. The following materials were received
in the course of the year:

PEGGY STEWART TEA PARTY CHAPTER, (1-4) Minute Books, 1898-
1924, 4 volumes. (5) Letter Books, 1912-1930, 1 volume.
(6) Day Book, 1906-1939, 1 volume. (8-15) Speeches, Re-
ports, Newspaper Clippings, Programs, By-Laws, etc., 1896,
1901-1944, 8 large envelopes. (16) Record of Service in
World War I (Chapter and National), 1914-1918, 1 large
envelope. (17-28) Lineage Book, vols. 21-24, 30, 37-38, 41-
45, 12 volumes, printed. (29) Errata for the Lineage Book,
vols. 1-36, 1 volume, printed. (30) D. A. R. Handbook,
1936, printed. (31) Proceedings of the Fifty-First, Fifty-
Second and Fifty-Third Continental Congress, 1942-1944,
3 volumes, printed. (34-36) Maryland State Society D. A. R.
Year Book, 1941-1943, 3 volumes, printed. (37-41) The
Patriotic Marylander, September, December, 1915, March,
September, December, 1916, 5 issues. (42) "Historical
Pageant Prepared for Golden Jubilee Celebration of the
National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution on
October 11, 1940 as slightly revised for participation at the
Fiftieth Continental Congress Apr. 15, 1941." Compiled by
Sarah C. Robert, mimeographed.

TILGHMAN, DR. TENCH F., Diary of Tench F. Tilghman, ances-
tor to the donor, giving an account of the last days of the
Confederacy and the flight of President Davis and his fol-
