24 TENTH ANNUAL REPORT

Progress in the photostating of County Land Records was
about fifty percent greater than last year, and while this is
an encouraging sign, the Archivist would not insist that the
total of approximately 14,000 pages is the absolute maximum
attainable with our present staff and equipment. This number
of pages represents only about thirty volumes, and since Land
Records are sent to the Hall of Records only as fast as we can
furnish photostatic copies to the Counties, the process of receiv-
ing these records will at the present rate require about ten years
to complete.

The Somerset County volumes listed below complete that
series, the Frederick County volumes bring that series to the year
1779, the Charles County volumes are the first of that series to
be done. For the coming year we have contracted to complete
the Frederick County series, to complete Charles County if pos-
sible and to begin work on Dorchester County.
