All of the several kinds of repair materials which we for-
merly used have now become unobtainable with the exception of
the cellulose acetate foil and the tissue used in the lamination
process, and at times during the year there was grave danger
that these materials too would be cut off. However, small strictly
rationed quantities of such materials have been received each
time we were threatened with a shutdown, and we are hopeful
that we shall be able to continue during the coming fiscal year
at the worst on this hand-to-mouth basis.
However, in spite of all the difficulties encountered, more
materials were laminated during the year than ever before.
The total of 11,036 pages exceeded last year's mark by some-
thing over ten percent. It cannot be expected, however, that
our type of work will ever far surpass this figure. The actual
lamination is fast enough but the preparation of old and decrepit
records is inevitably time-consuming.
