28 FIFTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THE

Dr. Robertson cautiously refrained from sending materials outside the
Hall, but the Archivist feels that materials which have been taken apart
for repair should be rebound. Last year some material was bound and
this year a great deal more was sent away with good results. The follow-
ing materials were entrusted to commercial binders and are now back
in use:

Provincial Court Judgments Liber W. C. No. 1, 2 vols.

Robert Morris Ledger "B", 1 vol.

Prince George's County Test Book, photostated, 1 vol.

Anne Arundel County General Index 1777-1820, 1 vol.

Provincial Court Judgments Index A to L, photostated, 1 vol.

Accounts No. 63, 1770, 1 vol.

Inventories and Accounts 1712-1713, 1 vol.

Baltimore County Land Record B. No. L. 1 vol.

Colonial War Pay Roll, photostat, 1 vol.

Anne Arundel County Deed Index, photostat, 3 vols.

From time to time specially fine binding is called for. For example,
a good deal of material had already been prepared for the Rainbow
Series by the Maryland Historical Society before this material was trans-
ferred to the Hall of Records. Since some of this material has already
been published and some while not published has been cited and listed
as a part of the series, it has been deemed necessary to continue binding
the series as previously arranged. Several of these volumes were sent
to a mastercraftsman in Baltimore and are now in use, namely:

Archives of Maryland, Rainbow Series, Red Book No. 27, 2 vols.

Archives of Maryland, Rainbow Series, Red Book No. 29, 1 vol.

Archives of Maryland, Rainbow Series, Red Book No. 30, 2 vols.

Archives of Maryland, Rainbow Series, Red Book No. 9, 1 vol.

It will not be necessary in the future to send out fine binding, as
complete equipment for this kind of work was installed at the Hall dur-
ing the last year. The following volumes have been bound in our own
building during the past year:

St. Margaret's Parish Register, photostat........ ............. 1 vol.

St. John's Vestry Minutes, photostat............................ 1 vol.

St. John's Account Book, photostat.............................. 1 vol.

Test Book of Prince George's County, original ................. 1 vol.

PRESERVATION AND REPAIR

For preservation of records the Hall of Records still uses the slow
and expensive crepeline lining method. A close study has been made of
the various cellulose acetate devices now on the market, but the Archivist
is not vet satisfied with any of them. Sufficient funds are still available
