*** Sec. 6 (1) To the Hall of Records Commission for ex-
tension of Dark Room and equipment Fifteen Thousand Dol-
lars ($15,000.00) from the issue of August 15, 1939. ***

Acts 1941, Chapter 431.

AN ACT to add to Article 54 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "Land Office/' a new sub-title "Public Re-
ords," to follow immediately after Section 49 of said Article,
and one new section to be known as Section 51A and to follow
immediately after Section 51 of said Article, relating to tran-
scribing or reproducing certain public records.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new sub-title "Public Records" be and it is hereby
added to Article 54 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Land Office" to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 49 of said Article.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That a new section be,
and it is hereby added to Article 54 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Land Office, said new section
to be known as Section 51A to follow immediately after Section
51 of said Article and to read as follows:

51A. Whenever any court or other public records are re-
quired to be transcribed or reproduced for any reason, such cop-
ies may, in the discretion of the official charged with making
such transcription or reproduction, be made or reproduced by
photography, photostating or any similar process instead of by
re-writing or typing. For that purpose such records may be sent
to the Commissioner of the Land Office or the Archivist of the
Hall of Records for such period as may be required for their re-
production; and all expenses of shipment and reproduction shall
be paid by the official or agency having the copies made.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of
laws inconsistent with this Act be, and they are hereby repealed.
