ACCESSIONS
No attempt will be made here to list in detail the records which
were received at the Hall of Records during the first four years of
its operations. They are analyzed in the Catalogue of Archival Ma-
terial at the Hall of Records (Publications of the Hall of Records
Commission No. 2, 1942). They are to be found in the typewritten
annual reports of the Archivist and in the Accessions books of the
Hall of Records, all of which have been revised for the early years.
A general chronological listing of the major accessions from pub-
lic sources should not be without utility, however, in a consideration
of the growth of the Hall of Records.

1, 1935 when the Land Commissioner took up quarters in the Hall
of Records, and the appointment of the Archivist, October 1, a

of Records. This collection included the very large series of En-
grossed Acts of the General Assembly and some records of the de-
funct Provincial and General Courts. Most of these materials had
been previously catalogued by the court (Catalogue of Manuscripts
and Printed Matter in the Possession of the Court of Appeals of Mary-
land, 1926. Note: these materials have been re-examined during the
last few years and, while the Catalogue is still useful, it should be
used with caution).
Fiscal Year 1935-1936.
Commissioner of the Land Office: The Land Office had for a
long time been designated as a depository for non-current records
of other offices of the State government. In accordance with two
opinions of the Attorney General, April 25, 1935 and November 8,
