1, 1796, and Wilmer became the proprietor of the news-
paper78, which he proposed continuing on a triweekly
basls79, tut no evidence has been found of its further
publication. Ho record has been found of the project-
ed Price Current, so it nay be assumed that it was
another newspaper man's dream, which failed to mater-
ialize because of lack of support.
As far as is known, Gilmer's brief career with
the Eagle of Freedom was his last venture into pub-
lishing. He had already written several pamphlets,80
among which were two, apparently written and perhaps
published in Baltinore, but of which no copies have
been found, A Discourse on the Federal Church, as Late-
ly First Commenced in the City of Baltimore,81 and
A Discourse on the Propriety of Union among Christians
in their Form of Public Worship» throughout Confederated
America;82 and he continued to write lively, controver-
sial books and articles on religious and political sub-
jects through 1813 (he died in 1814), The article on
Wilmer, written by J. Hall Pleasants of Baltimore, in
the Dictionary of American Biography, gives an account
of this versatile clergyman's eventful later years.
