with a variety of blanks for justices.29

Herbert continued with his book-printing enter-
prises, publishing for the Reverend George Bower,
Episcopal rector in Washington County at that time,30
An Exposition of the Church Catechism.31 probably in
1793 or the early part of 1794; and, in January of

1794,32 Thoughts on the Death of the King of France,

by William Pox of London.33 In February of that year,
Herbert took subscriptions for his publication, Im-
peachment of Mr. La Fayette,34 which was ready to be
delivered to the subscribers on November 11,35

This was probably Herbert's last publication, be-
sides his newspaper, for on March 3, 1795, he died,
in the forty-first year of his age, leaving his wife,
Phebe Herbert, and three children. According to his
obituary,36 Stewart Herbert

lived in harmony and friendship with all who
knew him, and died regretted by them. He was a
foe to none and it is hoped he left no enemies.
Open, friendly, humane and generous, his heart
was open to the distress of his fellow creatures,
and he never wanted the disposition to relieve
them.
