Henry S. Keatinge announced on August 15, 1798,

that he did engraving and copperplate print ing,41

aisd his inventory mentions "2 printer's stones",42
two facts which indicate that he may have printed
music. His name on the imprint of Since Then I'm
Doom'd is an argument for the possibility that he may
have been engaged in this business before 1800.
Dichter and Shapiro, however, do not mention him in
the "Directory of Early American Music Publishers" in
their Early American Sheet Music.

Henry Keatinge was a musician; in 1808 he wrote
and published Musical Perceptor: or, A Key to Harmony;
his will mentions a piano forte and a flute,43 one or
both of which he may have played; and he directed the
band of the Twenty-Seventh Regiment of Maryland Militia,
at least in 1798.44 He died in 1834, aged 64;45 his
wife, Dorinda Godfrey Keatinge (1774?-1834) died on
June, 13, also in 1834.46 The inclusion of his name
here among music printers of the decade 1791-1800 may
be somewhat questionable; but the indications are that
he did print music, and it is certain that, to a small
