A Further Addittional Supplement to un act, entilled, An act fur the more
effectual collection of the County Charges of Allegany County..

Proceedingt rela-
tive to non-resi-
dent's lands

Le it enac6ed by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That in all cases where purchases may be made hereafter of any
non-resident's lands in Allegany county, under the law to which
this is a supplement, it shall be the duty of the purchaser
or purchasers, and that of the collector of the tax for said coun-
ty, to cause the same to be advertised in a newspaper printed
in the town of Cumberland, Allegany county, in addition to
those newspapers heretofore prescribed by law, in the same
manner, form, and by the same direction, as they were, prior to
the passage of this act, directed to be printed in other news-pa-
pers in this state, and to have the same effect as prescribed by
the act passed at December session eighteen hundred and twen-
ty-two, chapter one hundred and seventy one, lo which this is
a supplement to a further additional supplement.

CHAP. CI.

An Act to incorporate the Cumberland Engine Ccmpany, in the Town of
Cumberland in Allegany County,

Preamble

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the
president, directors and members, of the Cumberland Engine
Company, in the town of Cumberland, in Allegany county,
that the inhabitants of said town have purchased a fire engine,
and other apparatus, for the extinguishment of fire, and have
provided a house for the reception and preservation of the
same; and for the purpose of securing the right and title to the
said property, and to give effect to the laws, rules and regula-
tions, which have or may be established by the said company,
it lias been prayed that an act of incorporation may pass in
their favour; Therefore,

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John M. Lawrence, president, Gustavus Beall, vice-pre-
sident, John Hoye, Samuel P. Smith, Beane S. Pigman and
Martin Riser, directors, and such other persons as now are or
hereafter may become members of the said company, shall be,
and they are hereby declared to be, oiie community, corpora-
tion and body politic, forever hereafter, by the name and style
of The Cumberland Engine Company, and by that name they
shall be and they are hereby made able and capable in law to
have, purchase, receive, possess, enjoy and retain, to them and
their successors, lands, tenements, rents, annuities, or other he-
reditaments, and the same to grant, demise, alien, and dispose
of, in such manner as they may judge conducive to the inte-

rests of the company; Provided nevertheless, that the saicl cor-
poration or body politic shall not, at any one time, hold or pos-
sess property, real, personal or mixed, exceeding the sum of
five hundred dollars per annum.

2. And be if enacted. That the said company, and their
successors, by the aforesaid name, shall forever hereafter be
able and capable in law to sue and be sued, plead and be im-
pleaded, answer and be answered, defend and be defended, in
