CHAP. 30

sation for said justice of the peace, shall be paid by the said jus-
tice of the peace to the informer, and the other half into the
hands of the orphans court of said county, who are hereby au-
thorised to apply the same as a part of the school fund of said
county.

4. And be it enacted, That any justice of the peace who
shall make sale of any such boat or boats, or other vessels used
as sand boats, is hereby required within twenty days after such
sale or sales, to pay into the hands of the orphans court of said
county, such part of the proceeds of said sale or sales, as the pro-
visions of this act entitle the said court to receive; and in case
Of a failure by any justice of the peace to pay as aforesaid, he
shall be liable to presentment in the county court of said county,
and upon conviction thereof, shall forfeit and pay the sum of fif-
ty dollars, to bs collected as other forfeitures are, and paid into
the hands of the orphans court aforesaid, and applied by said
court as a part of the school fund of said county.

5. And be it enacted, That the provisions of this act shall
not be construed to apply to any other than such boats or ves-
sels as may visit that part of the aforesaid branch which lies in
Prince-George's county, for the purpose of taking and carrying
sand therefrom.

6. And be it enacted, That if the owner or owners of any
boat dr boats seized under this law, or his or their agent, shall
within fen days after such seizure, enter into bond in a penalty

of one hundred dollars, with security to be approved by the jus-
tice of the peace under whose warrant such boat or boats shall
Have been seized, conditioned to prosecute with effect an appeal
to the next county court which shall be thereafter, then the said
boat or boats shall be restored to such owner or owners.

7. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the judges
of Prince-George's county court, at their next term of said court
after such bond is executed, to hear and determine the said ap-
peal, and give judgment therein as they do upon appeals from

the judgments of justices of the peace: Provided always, that
no keel boat exceeding twenty tons burthen, or exceeding four
hundred dollars in value, shall be sold under this act, unless pre-
vious, to such sale notice be given by advertisements in two of
flie public prints in the District of Columbia, for three successive
weeks, of the time and place of sale, with a description of said
vessel.

WHEREAS Samuel Harden, William Wilkins', Thomas E.
Bond, Philip Littigg, Andrew Adgate, Thomas Armstrong,
Fielder Israel, Christian Keener, James Brundige, Alexander
Russell, William McKonkey, junior, Thomas Kelso, Robert
Armstrong, Jacob Rogers, George Earnest and John Berry,
Members of the Methodist Episcopal Church of the city of
Baltimore, and others, have formed themselves into a society
for the laudable, purpose of affording relief to the itinerant mi-
nisters of the said church, their wives, widows and children,
and for this education of the latter, and have prayed for aft act
