said bond and security shall be approved of by the said court, and
recorded in the office of the clerk of Baltimore county court,
and an office copy thereof, under seal, shall be evidence in all the
courts of this state; and in case any collector shall refuse or neg-
lect to give such new, or additional security, within the time fixed
by said court, then all the powers of said collector shall from
that time cease, and the said court shall thereupon appoint a new
collector in the place of the one so removed who shall give
bond, to the state of Maryland, in such penalty and with such
security, as the said court shall prescribe and approve, condition-
ed for the faithful discharge of his or their duties as such, which
bond shall be recorded in Baltimore county court, upon which
suits may be. brought by the said levy court, or by any person
or persons interested therein, and copies thereof, under the seal
of office, shall be evidence in all cases whatever.

2. And be it enacted, That all and every act and acts, or
parts of any act, which is or are inconsistent with the provi-
sions of this act, be and the same are hereby repealed.

CHAP. XXXVI.
An Act to authorise and empower the Justices of the Levy Court of Har-
ford County, to convey a portion of the Public Ground for the purposes
therein mentioned.

Passed Jan. 24, 1827

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly by the
petition of divers citizens of Harford county, that a building to
be used for the purposes of public worship and a Masonic Hall,
would be erected upon the public ground in the town of Belle-
Air, in said county, provided the title to sufficient ground for
that purpose was conveyed by the levy court to certain persons
as trustees; and the power of the said levy court to convey,
without the aid of a special act of assembly, being doubted;
Therefore,

Preamble

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the justices of the levy court of Harford county, or a ma-
jority of them, for the time being, be and they are hereby au-
thorised and empowered, if in their diseretion they shall deem the
same advisable, to convey to John McKenny, Israel D. Maulsby,
James Pannell and Samuel Bradford, in fee simple, in trust, for
the purpose of erecting thereon a building to be used for pur-
poses of religious worship and a Masonic Hall, such portion of
the public lot on which the court house now stands, in the town
of Belle-Air, in said county, as may be by the said levy court
deemed sufficient for the purpose before mentioned.

2. And be it enacted, That the said John McKenny, Israel
D. Maulsby, James Pannell and Samuel Bradford, upon receiv-
ing such conveyance from the levy court, shall hold the ground
so conveyed in trust, for the purposes before mentioned, and
they, or a majority of them, or the survivor or survivors of
them, and their successors, shall be capable by deed or will to
appoint their successor or successors, who, shall hold the pro-
perty in trust for the purposes before mentioned;
