slave or slaves claiming his, her or their freedom, under such
deeds of manumission; And provided also, that the provisions
of this act shall not extend to the case of any negro or negroes,
mulatto or mulattoes, whose right to freedom is now in litigation
in any court of this state.

CHAP, CCXXXVI.
An Act for the relief cf Teresa Court, and her Children.
WHEREAS it is represented to the legislature of Maryland,
that a certain Richard Darnall, of Anne-Arundel county, did,
on the sixteenth day of June, in the year one thousand seven
hundred and eighty-eight, execute a deed of manumission,
which has been duly acknowledged and recorded, in favour of
a certain female negro called Teresa, and now the wife of Wil-
liam Court, a free man of said county: Arid whereas it appears
that said deed is so far defective as to have but one witness; and
it is also alleged that said Teresa, by reason of her tender age,
was incapable, under a late decision of the court of appeals, to
take her freedom, even if said deed had been in other respects

valid; Therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That said deed shall be valid and effectual in law to give free-
dom to said Teresa, and her issue.

CHAP. CCXXXVII.
An Act making certain .Chancery Records therein mentioned Evidence.
WHEREAS at December session 1825, the general assembly-
passed the following resolutions: "Resolved, That the gover-
nor and council be and they are hereby authorised and requir-
ed, to take under their superintendance, the papers remaining
unrecorded in the chancery office, and which should have been
placed on record by Samuel H. Howard, Nicholas Brewer,
James P. Heath, and Thomas H. Bowie, esquires, late regis-
ters in chancery. Resolved, That the governor and council be
and they are hereby authorised and required, to cause such of
said papers, as are required by law to be recorded, to be regis-
tered as soon as may be, in proper books to be procured for
that purpose, and that such books of registry, after they are
completed, be deposited and remain among the archives of said
officer:" And whereas the said records have been nearly com-

pleted; Therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all such records, when completed and deposited in the
chancery office, under the foregoing resolutions, shall be, and
they are declared to be evidence, and as such to have the same
authority and effect as other records of the same kind, made
out by the register of the said court of chancery, have.

City of Baltimore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the said Ann Maria Bush be and she is hereby divorced from
bed, heard and mutual cohabitation, with her husband Robert Bush
