CHAP. 29.

Oversee, to collect
debts due persons
admitted into
poor's-house.

any properly or debts that may remain to them, should go to
the use of the county; Therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, whenever any per-
son or persons may be admitted into the poor's-house for Mont-
gomery county, to he supported by said county, it shall be law-
ful for the overseer of superintendant of the poor of said coun
ty, for the time being, under the direction of the board of trus-
tees of the poor for said county, for the time being, to, collect
in the name of such person or persons, Any debt or debts duo
to such person or persons so admitted, and if necessary to en-
force the payment thereof, in the same manner that such person
or persons might themselves have enforced such payment pre-
viously to their admission as aforesaid into said poor's-house.

5. And be it enacted} That whenever any, person or per-
sons is or are admitted into the poor's-house for Montgomery
county, to be supported as aforesaid, who have any property of
what nature or kind soever, it shall be lawful for the overseer
or Superintendant for the time being as aforesaid, under the di-
rection of the board of trustees as aforesaid, to take the same
into his possession; and it shall be lawful for the said overseer
or Superintendant as aforesaid, under the direction of the board.

covery of such property, or any part thereof, as the said person
or persons, so admitted into the poor's-house, could or might
have done before their admission into the poor's-house as afore-
said.

be applied to the
support of the
pauper.

3. And be it enacted, That all debts collected, or property
received or recovered under the provisions of this act, by the
overseer or Superintendant of the poor, for the time being, as
aforesaid, shall be applied to the support of the pauper whose
debts and property shall be so received, and if the said pauper
shall leave the poor-house, with the consent of the trustees
thereof, such part of the said property as shall remain unapplied
to the use aforesaid, shall be restored to him.

4. And he it enacted, That nothing in this act contained
shall in any manner affect the rights of creditors of persons ad-
mitted into the poors-house.

Repeal.

5. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of acts inconsist-
ent with or repugnant to the provisions of this act, be and they
are hereby repealed.

CHAP. XXX.

An Act to alter and amend so much of an Act, entitled,. An Act to lay out
and open a Road from Westminster in Frederick County, to the City of
Washington and George-Town, as relates to the opening of said Road
through" Montgomery County.

Road authorised
to he laid out and
opened.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Thomas Davis and Richard H. Griffith, two of the com-
missioners appointed to lay out and open the said road, be and
they are hereby authorised, to lay out and open all that part of
said road which passes through Montgomery county; and the
said commissioners shall make out a plat of said road, (if the
same has not already been done, ) and return the same to the
