be confined and supported in some hospital or asylum for the
reception of insane or lunatic persons, until such person shall
have recovered his reason; and that such trustee will faithfully
administer, and fully account for all such estate, income and ef-
fects, of the said lunatic, as shall come to his possession, or be
under his care or direction.

CHAP. 197l

4. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the trus-
tees for the poor of the several counties in this state, and for
Baltimore city and county, to receive the person or persons
committed under the provisions of this law, and they are here-
by authorised and empowered to provide for the necessary ac-
commodation and support of such persons, and to levy trie ex-
pense of the same upon their respective counties, or upon the
city of Baltimore, as the case may be.

5. And be it enacted, That nothing herein contained shall
be construed to affect, or in any manner to interfere with, the
powers of the chancellor in such cases, farther than, that the
estate of such insane or lunatic person, if he hath any, shall be

CHAP. CXCVIII,
An Act to authorise Mary C. Spence, of Baltimore County, to sell or release
and convey the Real Estate of Robert T Spence, deceased.

Passed Mar 9, 1827

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Mary C. Spence, of Baltimore county, be and she is here-
by authorised and empowered, to sell, and convey in fee simple
or to lease for any term of years, all or any part of the real es-
tate of Robert T. Spence, late of Baltimore county, deceased;

Provided however, that before she proceeds to make such sale
or lease, she shall give bond to the state of Maryland, in such
penalty and with such security as the chancellor shall direct and
approve, conditioned for the faithful performance of the trust
reposed in her by this act, which bond shall be filed and record-
ed in the court of chancery; And provided also, that before
any sale or lease, authorised to be made by this act, shall take
effect or be valid, that the contract for the same shall be first
submitted to the said chancellor, and in case the chancellor shall
approve of the same, then and in that case, the said Mary C.
Spence shall be authorised and empowered to sell convey or

lease, the property so intended to be sold, conveyed or leased.
2. And be it enacted, That when any property shall be
sold or leased in pursuance of the power granted by this act
that the said Mary C. Spence shall forthwith report the same to
the said court of chancery, and it shall be the duty of the salt
court to order the proceeds arising from any part of the sale or
lease as aforesaid, to be invested by the said Mary C, Spence
in such stock or funds as the said court shall direct and approve
which investment shall be made in such manner and form as to
give to the said Mary C. Spence that right and use of, in, and
unto the same, as she was entitled town the property which may
have been sold or leased in pursuance of this aet; and the salt
Mary C. Spence shall not require any farther or greater inte-
rest, right, title or claim in the stock or funds so invested or ere
