18-505.

(a) [(1)] Each recipient of a full-time Delegate Scholarship may use the
scholarship to attend summer school.

[(2) The recipient shall request permission to attend summer school from
the Administration at least 6 months before it starts.]

(b) The term of a full-time Delegate Scholarship shall be shortened by one-half
year for each summer of use.

(c) The amount used for summer school may not exceed one half of the value of
the award for the next academic year.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1990.

AN ACT concerning

Kent County - Sheriff - Salary

FOR the purpose of increasing the salary of the Sheriff of Kent County; and providing
that this Act does not apply to the salary or compensation of the incumbent
Sheriff of Kent County.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
Section 2-309(p)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1989 Replacement Volume)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

2-309.

(p) (1) The Sheriff of Kent County shall receive a salary of [$27,000] $35,000
and, at the discretion of the County Commissioners, county-owned automobiles as may
be necessary to operate the Sheriff's department. The Sheriff shall appoint a chief
deputy sheriff who shall receive a salary of at least $8,000. The Sheriff also may appoint
not more than two assistant deputies who shall receive salaries of at least $7,000. The
Sheriff and his deputies shall receive an allowance set by the County Commissioners for
