services as a Washington County Commissioner.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of a Washington County Commissioner in office on
the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act and of Chapter 53 of the
Acts of 1989 concerning the salary or compensation of the Washington County
Commissioners shall take effect at the beginning of the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1990.

AN ACT concerning

Harford County - Sheriff - Salary

FOR the purpose of increasing the salary of the Sheriff of Harford County; providing
that the increase shall be implemented on a certain incremental basis; and
providing that this Act does not apply to the salary qr compensation of the
incumbent Sheriff of Harford County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

(n) (1) The Sheriff of Harford County shall NOT HAVE EMPLOYMENT
OUTSIDE OF THAT POSITION, AND SHALL receive a salary of [$52,000.]:

(I) $52,000 IN 1991;

(II) $55,000 IN 1992;

(HI) $58,000 IN 1993; AND

(IV) $60,000 IN 1994 AND THEREAFTER. He shall appoint the
