Allegany County - Special Taxing District

FOR the purpose of abolishing the Cresaptown Fire-Ambulance Special Taxing
District, contingent on the Allegany County Commissioners taking similar action
and establishing certain ambulance and fire districts in Allegany County; and
providing for the application of this Act.

BY repealing

The Public Local Laws of Allegany County

Section 73-10 through 73-16, inclusive

Article 1 - Public Local Laws of Maryland

(1983 Edition and January, 1990 Supplement, as amended)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 1 - Allegany County

[73-10.

For the purpose of this Article, the Cresaptown Fire-Ambulance District in
Allegany County, as hereinafter described, shall constitute a special taxing area or
district and shall be deemed and taken to comprise certain parcels of land as follows:
Beginning at a point on the top of Dan's Mountain about 2.38 miles (approximately
12,600 feet) southwest of the Dan's Mountain Lookout Tower and running thence
northeasterly about 6.23 miles (approximately 32,900 feet) with the crest of Dan's
Mountain to a point on the Potomac Edison Company Lake Lynn Electric Line 1.49
miles (approximately 7,875 feet) west of the Winchester Road; thence with said electric
line easterly about 2.2 miles (11,616 feet) across District No. 29, said power line crosses
the Winchester Road about 450 feet south of the Western Maryland Railroad Bridge;
thence with the east boundary of District No. 29 and the top of Haystack Mountain;
thence southeasterly about 1.36 miles (7,190 feet) to a point on U.S. Route 220 at the
northernmost gate to the Celanese Corporation, Amcelle Plant; thence in a southerly
direction for 0.8 of a mile along McMullen Boulevard to the southernmost gate of the
Celanese Corporation, Amcelle Plant, so as to exclude from this taxing area the
buildings and facility of said Celanese Corporation; thence in an easterly direction
about 0.36 miles (1,900 feet) to the Maryland - West Virginia boundary line in the
Potomac River; thence southeasterly with said Potomac River to the confluence of Mill
Run and the Potomac River at Rawlings, Maryland; thence along said run to a concrete
box culvert on U.S. Route 220 where Mill Run crosses under U.S. Route 220; thence
northeasterly 2.42 miles (12,800 feet) to the point of beginning.]

[73-11.

A. Tax levy. The Board of County Commissioners of Allegany County shall levy
and cause to be collected from the property owners at the time of the county tax levy for
the year 1973 or any succeeding year within this described area of Cresaptown as
created in this Article such amounts not exceeding seven cents ($0.07) on each one
hundred dollars ($100.) worth of assessable real property in this special tax area as may
