AN ACT concerning

Kent County - Employment of Prisoners - Collection of Costs

FOR the purpose of requiring certain prisoners who are incarcerated in the Kent
County Detention Center to pay certain reasonable costs while in the detention
center; requiring the Kent County Commissioners to establish certain rates of
payment and to designate the warden of the Kent County Detention Center as the
agent to collect certain costs; and generally relating to the collection of certain
costs from certain prisoners in Kent County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

645GG.

(A) PRISONERS INCARCERATED IN THE KENT COUNTY DETENTION
CENTER WHO ARE EMPLOYED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF § 645K OF
THIS ARTICLE SHALL BE REQUIRED TO PAY THE REASONABLE COSTS OF
THEIR OWN FOOD, LODGING, AND CLOTHING WHILE IN THE DETENTION
CENTER.

(B) THE KENT COUNTY COMMISSIONER COMMISSIONERS SHALL:

(1) ESTABLISH A REASONABLE PER DIEM RATE FOR FOOD,
LODGING, AND CLOTHING; AND

(2) DESIGNATE THE WARDEN OF THE KENT COUNTY
DETENTION CENTER AS THE AGENT TO COLLECT THESE COSTS.
