Said bill was then sent to the Senate.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bill:
An act to authorize the County Commissioners for Freder-
ick county to build a new Court House for Frederick county,
to borrow money on the credit of the county, to issue bonds
for the payment of the same, and to levy taxes on the asses-
sable property of the county, to redeem said bonds at maturi-
ty, and to pay the interest thereon ;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Freder-
ick County Delegation.

Also returned the bill entitled, an act to relieve the Mayor
and Board of Police of the city of Baltimore, and all persons
who acted under the orders of the Mayor or of the Board of
Police of Baltimore city, in their efforts to maintain peace arid
good order and prevent further strife, on and after the occur-
rences of the 19th of April, 1861, in said city, from prosecu-
tion for or in consequence of their acts of obedience to said or-
ders ;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays."

On motion of Mr. Mor gan,

The House took up for consideration, the order of the day,
being the bill entitled, an act appropriating a sum of money
to pay Samuel J. Pentz, (owner of the steamer Pioneer) Wil-
liam H. Hamilton, John Bird, J. C. Bush, James Cook,
Wm. Lynch, John Bradshaw, E. S. Thomas and Edwin
Street.

Said bill being upon its second reading, the question re-
curring upon the amendment proposed by Mr. Worthington,
to strike out the word "six" in the fourth line and insert
"three,"

When Mr. Worthington withdrew the proposed amend-
ment.

Mr. Parran proposed the following amendment:
Strike out the word "six" in the fourth line and insert
"three hundred and fifty."

Pending the consideration of which,

The yeas and nays were ordered, and appeared as follow :
