Mr. Miller offered the following :

Ordered, That it be entered upon the journal that Mr.
Maxwell is absent from his seat in the House in consequence
of family affliction;

Which was adopted,

Mr. Stake offered the following :

Ordered, That the Baltimore city delegation be instructed
to enquire, under what authority and by what right, the pro-
perty of Martin Kavenaugh and others, was seized in the
name of the State, on add after the 19th day of April last,
and what means of redress the parties have for damages sus-
tained thereby ;

Which was referred to the Baltimore city delegation.
On motion of Mr. Ford,

It was ordered to be entered on the journal that the ab-
sence of Mr. Hunter, from his seat in this House, is occasion-
ed by sickness.

Mr. Long, chairman of the committee on Ways and
Means, reported the Senate bill entitled, an act to release
from the payment of interest and sureties on the official bond
of Samnel L. Duhamel, collector of taxes for the first elec-
tion district of Queen Anne's county, in the year 1857.

Mr. Lawson, from special committee, made a favorable re-
port upon the bill entitled, an act to repeal the one hundred
and ninety-eight section of Article XIX of the Code of Public
Local Laws, relating to Public Schools in Somerset county ;

Which was read the second, and by special order the third
time, and passed by yeas and nays as follow:
