The proceedings of Saturday were read.
Mr. Ford preseated the petition of Noah Worthington, of
Thos., Gen. Hugh Ely, and 48 other citizens of the second
election district of Baltimore county, against the passage of
the bill—pending in the Senate—known as the Committee ot
Safety Bill;
Mr. Brown presented a petition of James S. Garrett, and
77 other citizens, on the same subject;
Mr. Routzahn presented the petition of Stephen R. Bow-
lus, and 362 other citizens of Middletown district, against
the Board of Public Safety;
Mr. Naill presented the petition of sundry citizens of Dou-
ble Pipe creek, in Frederick county in relation to the present
condition of the affairs of the State ;
Mr. Brune presented the petition of many residents of Bal-
timore city, praying the immediate re-building of the bridges
recently destroyed upon the railroads leading to the city;
Mr. Bayless presented the petition of Elisha Lewis and
seventy others, against the Safety Bill;
Also, the petition of J. T. Spicer and forty other citizens
of Harford county, against the Safety Bill;
Mr. Stake presented the petition of a "majority of the
voters" of Williamsport district, in Washington county, pro-
testing against Secret Sessions, and praying a speedy adjourn-
ment after the passage of such laws of a general character as
the business of the community irnperilous demands ; also,
protesting against the passage of any law establishing Com-
mittees of Safety ;
Which were severally read and referred to the Joint Special
Committee of the House and Senate on reporting business for
the Session.
Mr. Long presented the memorial of the Baltimore City
Union Convention protesting against the passage of the bill
pending before the Senate of Maryland, providing for a Com-
mittee of Public Safety ;
Which was read and referred to the same committee.
