been furnished you was written at Baltimore, and if I took a
copy, I have mislaid it.

On receiving your first order in reference to the matter, I
wrote to the Secretary of War asking for a copy of the letter,
but have not as yet, received a response.

The substance of the letter was an inquiry of the Secretary
of War, "whether the four regiments, for which a requisition
upon me had been madeby the President, would be required
to serve outside the State of Maryland, if mustered into ser-
vice in accordance with said requisition?"

Which was read and referred to the committee on Federal
Relations.

Mr. Pitts, chairman of special committee, reported favora-
bly upon the bill, entitled, an act to relieve the Mayor and
Board of Police of the city of Baltimore, and all persons who
acted under the orders of the Mayor or of the Board of Police
of Baltimore city, in their .efforts to maintain peace and good
order and prevent further strife, on and after the occurrences
of the 19th April, 1861, in said city from prosecution in con-
sequence of their acts of obedience to said order ;

Which was read the first, and by .special order the second
time.

On motion of Mr. Legg,

It was ordered, that when the House adjourns, it adjourns
to meet on Monday at 12 o'clock.

On motion of Mr. Legg,
The House, at 12 o'clock, adjourned.

MONDAY, May G, 1861.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.

Mr. Crever.
