562 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS, [Aug. 5,

A bill entitled, an act to provide for the payment of a sum
of money to Captain Gabriel Beckley, of the United Guards
of Frederick county, for services rendered under the orders
of the Governor;

Also, The bill entitled, an act to repeal the 46th section of
article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws, relating to the
collection of fines and forfeitures in Chesapeake city;

Severally endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays."

Also, returned the following:

Resolution authorizing the Librarian to make a new cata-
logue, &c.;

Endorsed, ''passed by yeas and nays."
Also, delivered the following:

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
select committee on the Library be instructed to deliver to the
Clerks of the Circuit Courts of the State and the city of Bal-
timore, for the use of the Acadamies and Library Associa-
tions of the different counties in the State, any duplicate co-
pies of laws and miscellaneous books, as may in their judg-
ment be dispensed with, without prejudice to the interests of
this State after a catalogue of said books now in said Library
shall have been made out, who shall report as soon as conve-
nient, the number and character of books so distributed;

Which was, read the first and by special order the second
time, and

On motion of Mr. Mackubin,
Was laid upon the table.

Mr. Pitts, from the committee on the Judiciary reported
favorably upon the bill entitled, an act to add an article to
the Code of Public General Laws of this State, under the title
of Riparian Proprietors, and declaratory of the rights of
owners of land bounding on the navigable waters of this
State;

Which was read the first and by special order the second
time.

On motion of Mr. Pitts,
The bill was ordered to a third reading.
