Mr. Jacobs proposed the following:

WHEREAS, Captain James Moore, of Worcester county,
having organized a volunteer company in conformity with
the act of 27th February, I860, and given bond and security
for the safe keeping and return of such arms as he was enti-
tled to receive under said act;

AND WHEREAS, Said arms were, by order of the Adjutant
General, left at the store of Wm. Chesnut & Co., in Baltimore
city instead of the armories of the State, as the law requires,
and on the 13th of May last said arms were shipped on board
the schooner S. B. Melson, of Snow Hill, Capt. Agnew, and
on the next day were seized by order of Gen. Butler, and
placed in Fort McHenry, where they now are; therefore,

Ordered, That, his Excellency Gov. T. H. Hicks, be re-
spectfully requested to inform this House at as early day as
convenient, whether said arms were seized with his knowledge
and consent, and for what reason they are kept from the
possession of Capt. Moore and company, and whether any
action on his part has been taken to cause said arms to bo
delivered up to the State authority in order to be given up
to Capt. Moore;

Which was adopted.

Mr. McCleary presented the following:

A petition of 175 citizens of Cecil county, protesting;
against the vote of Mr. Maxwell on the resolution offered
by Mr. Chaplain, and requesting Mr. Maxwell to resign.
or to have the House adjourn sine die;

Which was read.

On motion of Mr. Wallis,

Lecive was granted to the committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to amend article LXIX of the Code of Public
General Laws, by adding thereto certain sections relating to
persons taking or holding public offices without the lawfully
prescribed qualifications.

Mr. Harrison offered the following:

Ordered, That the bill adding an additional supplement
to an act entitled, an act to incorporate the Metropolitan
Railroad company, and heretofore reported to this House, be
referred to a special committee of five, to be appointed by the
Speaker
