Said bill was then sent to the Senate.

Mr. Kessler, from a select committee, reported favorably
upon a Senate bill entitled, an act adding an additional sup-
plement to an act entitled, an act to incorporate the Metro-
politan Railroad company, passed at January session 1853;

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Gordon, from the committee on the Judiciary, reported
favorably upon a bill entitled, an act to amend article XXIX
of the Code of Public General Laws, by adding thereto a sec-
tion extending the lien of judgments to leasehold interests in-
land;

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Griffith,

The rules were suspended to enable Mm to present the pe-
tition of John M. Viers and other citizens of Montgomery
county, asking the passage of an act requiring parties pe-
titioning for opening roads in said county to pay all expen-
ses incurred therein, when such road or roads are not granted;

Which was read and referred to the Montgomery county
delegation.

Mr. Maxwell offered the following:

Ordered, That the committee on Claims be directed to pay
Mrs. Schleigh for ice furnished for use of the House of Dele-
gates;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Gordon, from a select committee, reported favorably
upon a bill entitled, an act to authorize the commissioners of
Allegany county to pay George L. Layman for certain ser-
vices rendered as constable;

Which was read the first, and by special order the second
and third times, and passed by yeas and nays, as follow:
