The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following:
A bill entitled, tin act adding an additional supplement to
an "act entitled an act to incorporate the Metropolitan Rail
Road Company, passed at January session, 1853, which was
lead the first time and referred to the Frederick and Mont-
gomery county delegations.
Mr. Morgan offered the following:
Ordered, that when the House adjourns it adjourns to
meet on Monday at 1 o'clock P. M.
Which was rejected.
Mr. McCleary, chairman of the joint select committee,
made the following
REPORT:
The joint committee on the part of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland, to whom was referred the
question of mileage and per diem, beg leave to report that
they have taken into consideration said question, and report
the following resolution
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
members of the two Houses together with their respec-
tive officers, be and are hereby entitled to per diem during
the recess, and that the committee on Claims be instructed
to pay the same.

To the Honorable the General Assembly of Maryland:
The undersigned, a member of the joint committee ap-
pointed by the Senate and House of Delegates to take into
consideration the pay and mileage of the members of this
General Assembly, begs leave to make the following report:
The system of mileage, as now arranged, does not put all
