Which was read the first time and referred to committee
on the Judiciary,

Also, a bill entitled, an act to make an appropriation to
compensate that portion of the sixteenth regiment of Mary-
land militia, which in obedience to an order of his Excel-
lency Governor Hicks, performed guard duty at the State
armory in Frederick, from April 22d, to May 11th, 1861;

Which was read the first time,

Mr. Compton moved to put the bill upon its second read-
ing.

On motion of Mr. Kessler,
The bill was referred to the committee on Military Affairs,

Also, a bill entitled, an act to authorize the county com-
missioners for Frederick county to build a new court house
for Frederick county to borrow money on the credit of the
county, to issue bonds for the payment of the same, and to
levy taxes on the assessable property of the county to redeem
said bonds and to pay the interest thereon;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Fre-
derick county delegation.

Mr. Scott, from the committee on the Judiciary, reported
a bill entitled, an act to amend article XLVIII of the Code
of Public General Laws,by repealing the 2d section thereof and
substituting therefore the following, in relation to fees of of-
ficers;

Which was read the first time.

Also, a bill entitled, an act to amend article LXXXVIII of
the Code of Public General Laws, by repealing the 46th and
47th sections thereof, and substituting the following there-
fore, in relation to Sheriffs;

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Maxwell,

The rules were suspended and the House took up for con-
sideration the bill entitled, an act to make valid the last will
and testament of a certain John Hanna, of the State of
Pennsylvania, deceased.

Said bill was then read the third time and passed by yeas
and nays, as follow:
