Which was adopted.

The Speaker announced the appointment of Messrs. Mac-
kubin, Welch and Morgan as the select committee to intro-
duce a bill providing for the appointment of a keeper of the
furnace at the new Record Office, Annapolis, and of the en-
gineers of the heating apparatus attached to the State House.

Mr. Landing presented the petition of Wm. J. S. Clarke
and seventy-four citizens of Worcester and Somerset counties,
praying for a modification of the stay law;

Which was read and referred to the Judiciary committee.

Also, the petition of W. S. Wheaton and other citizens of
Worcester county, for relief for an illegal destruction of pro-
perty;

Which was read and referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Fiery presented the petition of one hundred and five
citizens of Washington county for an adjournment sine die of
the Legislature;

Which was read and referred to the select committee.

Also the petition of three hundred citizens of Washington
county upon the same subject;

Which was read and referred to the same committee.

The following message from the Executive was received by
the hands of G. Eichelberger, Esq., Secretary of State, and
read:

STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE CHAMBER,
Frederick City, June 5, 1861.
Gentlemen of the Souse of Delegates:

In response to your order of this date requesting me "to
furnish you, without delay, with copies of all correspondence
which may have taken place between myself and any officer
or officers of the General Government since the 4th of March
last," I have to say that I have already furnished your hon-
orable body with copies of all correspondence between myself
and officers of the General Government which I deem it ne-
cessary to lay before you.
