Mr. Ford moved to refer the resolution to a Special Com-
mittee of five;
And Messrs. Gordon, Ford, Medders, Chaplain and Comp-
ton constituted said committee ; and the resolution referred,
as proposed.
The Secretary of the Senate returned the following :
A bill entitled, an act to amend the IVth Article of the
Code of Public Local Laws, relating to the city of Baltimore,
by adding to the said Article the following section, giving
authority to the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore to issue
certificates of debt to an amount not exceeding five hundred
thousand dollars, in addition to the amount authorized to be
issued by section 939 of said IVth Article ;
Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays."
Also, a bill entitled, an act for the payment of the claims
of John Murphy & Co., William S. Brown, A. H. Hunt,
Hanshew & Markey, Young Men's Christian Association of
Frederick city, D. W. Brooks & Bro., John Rhodes, Wm. F.
Johnson, Andrew Boyd, George Rice, James Whitehill &
Co., Alpheus H. Shaifner, Isabella Gas Company, Frederick
Schroeder, Joseph Graff, William H. Doub, Julius Krahe,
Quynn & Ritter, Clarke, Albaugh & Co., George Hoskins,
P. & T. Rice, George L. Markell & Co., 'William G. Cole,
Jacob Reil, Ralph Basil, Emmanuel Dadds, Loabs & Eichel-

Also, a bill entitled, an act to repeal the 19th section of the
XXIXth Article of the Code of Public General Laws, and the
proviso to.the 33rd section of the Vth Article of the said
Code relating to stay of execution, and to extend the time for
enforcing the execution of judgments ;
Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays."
Also, the resolution authorizing the Adjutant General to
furnish the Newtown Atlantic Volunteers with rifles ;
Endorsed, " rejected by yeas and nays."
Also, delivered the resolution requesting the Governor to
direct the Adjutant General of this State to furnish to the
President and Faculty of Washington College, seventy-five
Cadets' muskets,
Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays."
