BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

May 8th, 1861.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We have received your message asking the appointment of a
joint committee, consisting of four members of each House, to
confer in regard to the adjournment of the Legislature.

We have appointed Messrs. Gordon, Kessler, Winans and
Morgan, to act in conjunction with the committee on the part of
the Senate.

Which was read.

The President laid before the Senate, a memorial of forty-two
residents of Prince George's county, praying a repeal of the law
passed at the last session, for the sale of the State Tobacco
Warehouses.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agriculture.
Mr. Townsend presented a petition in regard to Licenses.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, presented the petition of sundry
citizens of Talbot, in regard to the Safety bill.

Which was read, and laid on the table.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the following
bills:

A bill entitled, An act for the payment of the claims of John
Murphy & Co., William S. Brown, A. H. Hunt, Henshaw £
Markey, Young Men's Christian Association of Frederick city,
D. W. Brooks & Brother, John Rhodes, William F. Johnson,
Andrew Boyd, George Rice, James Whitehill & Co., A. H. Hunt,
Alpheus H. Shaffer, Isabella Gas Co., Frederick Schroeder, Joseph
Graff, William H. Doub, Julias Krahe, Quynn & Ritter, Clark,
Albaugh & Co., George Hoskins, B. & A. T. Rice, George L.
Markell & Co., William G. Cole, Jacob Riehl, Ralph Basil,
Emanuel Dadds, Loats & Eichelberger, and G. S. Groshen.

Also, a bill entitled, An act to pay Samuel Jackson a certain
sum of money, for filling an order under a resolution of the Gen-
eral Assembly.

Which were severally read, and referred to the Committee on
Finance.
