EVENING SESSION.

MONDAY, May 6th, 1861.

Mr. Kimmel presented the memorial of Henry Byerman, Ezra
Slifer, T. Wetnight, D. Grim, S. Ahalt, J. Wightman, Geo. Bur-
kett, B. Zimmerman, W. McCoy, J. E. Mullidore, D. Rohrer, S.
Thomas, Wra. Cost, S. Glass, J. Ahalt, D. Grove, Wm. House,
P. White, and two hundred and seventy residents of Frederick
county most earnestly, but respectfully, protesting against the
unconstitutional, arbitrary, illegal and despotic measure, entitled
"An Act for the Safety and Peace of the people of Maryland.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Yellott, McKaig, H.
H. Goldsborough, Watkins and Whitaker.

The President laid before the Senate resolutions passed by a
meeting of sundry citizens of Frederick and Carroll counties,
against the bill now pending before the Senate for the appoint-
ment of a Committee of Public Safety.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Yellott, McKaig, H.
H. Goldsborough, Watkins and Whitaker.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, presented the resolutions of the
Delegates to the Union Convention of Baltimore City.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Yellott, McKaig, H.
H. Goldsborough, Watkins and Whitaker.

Mr. Blackistone submitted the following resolution:
Resolved, by the General Assembly of Maryland,

That the Governor be and he is hereby requested to direct the
Adjutant-General of this State, to furnish to the President and
Faculty of Washington College, seventy-five cadets, muskets
and accoutrements, including percussion caps, together with
twelve Sergeant's swords, and twelve Lieutenant's swords, fit fo
parade for the use of said College.

Which was read the first time.
The Senate adjourned.
