44 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS May 3,

Goldsborough, of Dorchester; Heckart, Kimmel, Lynch, Miles,
Nuttle, Smith, Stone, Townsend, Watkins, Whitaker, Yellott.

The Sergeant-at-Arms returned and reported that he had noti-
fied the absent Senators that their attendance was required at the
Senate Chamber.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, offered the following

AMENDMENT :

After the words Maryland in the first line of first section, strike
out all down to the word together, and insert "That the people of
this State shall elect on the 13th day of June next, three persons,
one from each of the Gubernatorial districts of this State, who
have been citizens and residents for the past five years of each of
said districts respectively, who."

Mr. Smith moved a call of the Senate, when the following
Senators answered to their names:

Messrs. Brooke, President; Blackistone, Bradley, Duvall,
Dashiell, Franklin, Grahame, Gardiner, Goldsborough, of Talbot;
Goldsborough, of Dorchester; Heckart, Kimmel, Lynch, Miles,
Nuttle, Smith, Stone, Townsend, Watkins, Whitaker, Yellott.

On motion,
Further proceedings were dispensed with.

The yeas and nays were then taken upon the amendment, and
appeared as follows:

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. Bradley, Kimmel,

Grahame, Nuitle,

Goldsborough, of Talbot; Smith,

Goldsborough, of Dor.; Stone—8.

NEGATIVE.

Messrs. Brooke, President; Lynch,

Blackistone, Miles,

Duvall, Townsend,

Dashiell, Watkins,

Franklin, Whitaker,

Gardiner, Yellott—13.
Heckart,

So the Senate rejected the amendment.
Mr. Bradley moved an adjournment.
