SENATE CHAMBER,

FREDERICK CITY, Sept 17th, 1861.

Pursuant to an adjournment, the roll of the Senate was
called at one o'clock. There being no quorum present, the
Senate adjourned until to-morrow, at the same hour.

FREDERICK CITY, Sept. 20th, 1861.

After the proceedings of the 17th, the Secretary of the
Senate and his assistants, together with members of the
House and Senate, were arrested, under order of the Federal
authorities, and imprisoned. After the discharge of the offi-
cers, a sufficient number of members of the Senate and House
were retained in confinement to prevent the assembling of a
quorum, and I do hereby close the Journal.
