302 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Aug. 5,

Mr. Whitaker, from a select committee, reported favorably on
the following bill:

A bill, entitled, An act to amend sections 91 and 124, of Arti-
cle 10, of the Code of Public Local Laws for Dorchester county,
relating to the division of election districts in said county, and
apportioning the number of justices of the peace and constables
in said election districts;

Which was read the second time.

On motion of Mr. McKaig,
Resolutions in relation to the Library,
Were taken up and read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Stone,
Three-fourths of all the Senators concurring,

Were read the third time, and passed by yeas and nays as fol-
lows:

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. Brooke, President; Goldsborough, of Talbot;

Blackistone, Heckart,

Duvall, McKaig,

Dashiell, Stone,

Franklin, Townsend,

Grahame, Watkins,

Gardiner, Whitaker—14.

NEGATIVE.
Mr. Bradley—1.

Said Resolutions were then returned to the House of Dele-
gates.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, submitted the following resolu-
tion:

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the select
committee on the Library be instructed to deliver to the Clerks
of the Circuit Courts of the State, and the city of Baltimore, for
the use of the academies and library associations of the different
counties in the State, any duplicate copies of law and miscella-
neous books, as may in their judgment be dispensed with, without
prejudice to the interests of the State, after a catalogue of said
books now in said Library shall have been made out, who shall
report as soon as convenient the number and character of books
so distributed;
