Mr. Townsend moved to strke out the enacting clause.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, moved as a substitute, that the
bill be laid on the table;

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Stone,

Ordered, That the Secretary and Engrossing Clerk be allowed
mileage and per diem for the time they may be detained at the
close of the present session.

Mr. McKaig, from a select committee, reported the following
bill:

A bill, entitled, An act to authorize the Courts of Equity of
this State to direct the deposit of trust funds in the banks of this
State;

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Dashiell,

Ordered, That the Committee on Federal Relations be re-
quested to co-operate with that Committee of the House, and
make a joint report on the memorial of the Police Commissioners
of Baltimore, which was referred to them.

A bill, entitled, An act refunding to Samuel T. Hopkins and
John Donnovan, certain taxes erroneously paid by them into the
Treasury,

Was taken up, read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, from the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings, reported favorably on the following bills:

A bill, entitled, An act to repeal the 890th section of the 4th
Article of the Code of Public Local Laws, giving certain powers
to single justices of the peace in the city of Baltimore, in relation
to landlords and tenants, and to substitute therefor a section in-
creasing the power of such justices in the premises;

Which was read the second time.

A bill, entitled, An act to repeal sections 880 and 881 of the
4th Article of the Code of Public Local Laws, relating to the col-
lection of taxes and the limitation of time therefor, and to sustitute
for said sections the following sections, extending the time of such
limitations ————;

Which was read the second time.
