So the Senate refused to lay the bill on the table.

The question was again taken on the passage of the bill.
The yeas and nays being demanded, appeared as follows :

Said bill was then sent to the House of Delegates.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the following
message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

June 11th, 1861.

Gentlemen of the Senate :

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body, to
appoint a committee of three on the part of this House, and two
on the part of the Senate, to take into consideration the pay ant!
mileage of members of this General Assembly.
