Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We respectfully propose, with the concurrence of your Hon-
orable Body, that both Houses of the Legislature adjourn this day
at 12 o'clock, M., sine die.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, from the Committee on Finance,
reported favorably on the following:

A bill, entitled, An act to amend the 4th Article of the Code
of Public Local Laws, relating to the city of Baltimore, by au-
thorizing the Board of Police of said city to cause the closing of
bar rooms, bars, drinking houses, and liquor shops, in said city,
and the sale and furnishing of liquor thereat, when necessary for
the preservation of the public peace;

"Which was read the second time.

Mr. Duvall, from a select committee, reported favorably on the
the following:

A bill, entitled, An act adding an additional supplement to an
act, entitled, An act to incorporate the Metropolitan Railroad
Company, passed January session, 1853;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Smith, from a select committee, reported favorably on the
following:

A bill, entitled, An act to legalize and make valid a deed from
William R. Steele, executor of Joseph Steele, late of Carroll
county, deceased, to John T. Steele;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Stone submitted the following Preamble and Resolutions:

WHEREAS, The Southern troops are now destroying the dams,
