Mr. Franklin submitted the following message:

BY THE SENATE,

June 8th, 1861.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message, proposing the appointment of
a Joint Committee of three members of the Senate, and three of
the House, to take into consideration the propriety of adjourn-
ment of this General Assembly, and the time of such adjournment,
and to report to their respective Houses, and concur therein. We
appoint Messrs. Franklin, Whitaker, and Blackistone on the part
of the Senate.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of Dele-
gates.

On motion of Mr. Kimmel,

A bill, entitled, An act to make an appropriation to compen-
sate that portion of the Sixteenth Regiment of Maryland Militia,
which, in obedience to an order of His Excellency, Governor
Hicks, performed guard duty at the State Armory, in Frederick,
from April 22d to May 11th, 1861, inclusive,

Was taken up, read the second time, and ordered to be en-
grossed.

On motion of Mr. McKaig,

Said bill was made the order of the day for Monday, June 10,
at 1 o'clock.

Mr. Watkins, from a select committee, reported favorably on
the following:

A bill, entitled, An act to provide for the compensation of Wil-
liam A. Glanville, for certain services performed by him, in pro-
mulgating a proclamation or the Governor;

Which was read the first time.
