The Sergeant-at-Arms returned, and reported that he had
notified the absent Senators that their attendance was required at
the Senate Chamber.

On motion of Mr. Gardiner,

A bill, entitled, An act for the relief of David Knott, one of
sureties upon the official bond of Alexander Knott, late Sheriff
of Caroline county,

Was taken up, and the vote re-considered by which the report
of the Committee on Judicial Proceedings was concurred in, and
postponed until the 5th of June.

On motion of Mr. McKaig,

Ordered, That Messrs. ——, —— and ——, be a Committee
on the part of the Senate, with power to lease, or contract for the
use of this, or any other Hall, from and after the 4th of June
next, during the time the Senate continues the Extra Session in
the City of Frederick.

The Pesident appointed Messrs. McKaig, Kimmel and Gar-
diner.

The Resolutions from the Committee on Federal Relations, of
the House of Delegates,

Was taken up for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot,
The Resolutions were disposed of serriatem.

FIRST RESOLUTION.

Resolved by tJie General Assembly of Maryland, That the State
of Maryland owes it to her own self-respect and her respect for
the Constitution, not less than to her deepest and most honorable
sympathies, to register this, her solemn protest, against the war
which the Federal Government has declared upon the Confeder-
ate States of the South, and our sister and neighbor Virginia,
and to announce her resolute determination to have no part or
lot, directly or indirectly, in its prosecution.

The yeas and nays being demanded, appeared as follows :
