124 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS May 13,

Also a bill, entitled, An act making appropriations for the pay-
ment of the expenses of the extra session of the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, for the year one thousand eight hundred and
sixty-one.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee
on Finance.

A bill, entitled, An act for the relief of David Knott, one of
the sureties upon the official bond of Alexander Knott, late
Sheriff of Caroline county,

Was read the first time, and referred to the Committee on
Judicial Proceedings.

Mr. Heckart, from the Committee on Militia, reported favora-
bly on the following bill, entitled,

An act to make valid the qualification of Tench Tilghman as
Major General of the second Division of Maryland Militia.

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Yellott submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Rule of the Senate requiring three-fourths
of the Senators to concur in a suspension of the Rules in order
to give resolutions more than one reading on the same day, be
and the same is hereby amended, so far as said Rule applies to
Resolutions or Joint Resolutions, and that the same may have a
second and third reading on the day of their first reading, by the
concurrence of two-thirds of the Senators present.

Which was read.

The Senate adjourned until four o'clock.
