CAREER. EDUCATION: literate. SOCIAL STATUS AND

ACTIVITIES: transported five people; patented 500
acres one year after arrival; Gent., by 1666. OC-
CUPATIONAL PROFILE: planter. PUBLIC CAREER.
LEGISLATIVE SERVICE. Lower House, Baltimore
County, 1663-1664 (did not attend the 2nd ses-
sion because of official business at Susquehanna
Fort). LOCAL OFFICES: sheriff, Baltimore County,
in office 1661; justice, Baltimore County, 1661-
ca. 1665. MILITARY SERVICE: captain, commis-
sioned October 7, 1665. WEALTH DURING LIFE-
TIME. LAND AT FIRST ELECTION: 500 acres in Bal-

timore County. WEALTH AT DEATH. DIED: will

probated on March 25, 1667/68, in Baltimore
County. PERSONAL PROPERTY: TEV, at least 85,934
pounds of tobacco (including 1 servant, 7 slaves,
and his land which was valued at 20,000 pounds
of tobacco). LAND: 500 acres in Baltimore County.

ably at "Guilford," St. Luke's Parish, Queen
Anne's County. NATIVE: third generation. RE-
SIDED: at "Salisbury," Tuckahoe District, Queen
Anne's County. FAMILY BACKGROUND. FATHER:
Solomon Wright (?-1729). MOTHER: Mary Cour-
sey. UNCLE: Edward Wright (?-1740/41). HALF
UNCLE: Thomas Wright (?-ca. 1784). AUNT. Eliz-
abeth Coursey, who married Thomas Wilkinson
(1700/1-ca. 1758). HALF AUNTS: Mary Anne
Wright (?-1747), who married William Hopper
(1707-1772); Anne Wright (?-by 1754), who
married Edward Oldham (1709-1773). BROTH-
ERS: Solomon Wright (?-1792); Solomon Coursey
