Anne's County. FAMILY BACKGROUND. FATHER:
Nathaniel Wright (ca. 1657-1710), a planter of
Queen Anne's County who was transported from
England ca. 1673 and remained in servitude until
1680. MOTHER: Sarah. UNCLE: Solomon Wright
(ca. 1655-1717). BROTHERS: Solomon Wright (?-
1729); Nathaniel (?-1735), who married Ann (last
name unknown). SISTERS: Ann; Sarah; Neriah,
who married first, Nathaniel Wright (?-1718),
son of Solomon Wright (ca. 1655-1717), and sec-
ond, by 1724, Robert Jones. FIRST COUSIN: Charles
Wright (?-1720). NEPHEWS: Solomon Wright (?-
1792); Nathaniel Wright (?-1770), a possible leg-
islator. MARRIED Alice, daughter of William Clay-
ton, Sr. (ca. 1655-1721), of Queen Anne's County.
Her stepmother was Joan (?-1730), widow of
Robert Gough (?-1705). Her brothers were Wil-
liam Clayton (ca. 1682-1728/29); Solomon Clayton
(1685-1739). Her stepbrothers were Joseph
Gough; Robert Gough; and John Gough. Her
sister was Rachel (?-1749), who married Capt.
William Finney (?-ca. 1723), son of William Fin-
ney (ca. 1637-1696); Margaret, who married
Thomas Kemp (?-ca. 1727). Her niece was Mar-
garet Finney (?-by 1767), who married first, John
Edmondson (1692-1743), and second, William
Thomas (1705-1767). CHILDREN. SONS: Nathan (?-
1758), who married in 1746 Mary Tillotson, a
Quaker, sister of John Tillotson (?-1772); Ed-
ward (?-1787), who married Mary (last name
