Sarah (1721-?). Her half sisters were Mary Hold-
sworth (1713-?), who married Benson Bond (1710-
1750); Betty Holdsworth (1715-?), who married
James Height (?-1757). Her first cousin was James
John Mackall (1717-1772). OTHER KINSHIP: Bar-
bara was the great-granddaughter of both Richard
Smith (?-ca. 1690) and Henry Morgan (ca. 1616-
1663), and the great-niece of Walter Smith (?-
1711). Her second cousins were Lucy Smith (1688-
1770), who married Thomas Brooke (1683-1744);
Eleanor Smith (1690-1761), who married Thomas
Addison (1679-1727); and Rebecca Smith (1696-
1737), who married Daniel Dulany (1685-1753).
CHILDREN. SON: William Mackall Wilkinson (1751 -

William Wilkinson (?-1755). MOTHER: Barbara
(1722-1757), daughter of Benjamin Mackall (1675-
1761) and wife Barbara Smith (1693-1764). Bar-
bara Smith married first, Thomas Holdsworth (ca.
1692-1718). UNCLE: Benjamin Mackall, Jr. (ca.
1723-1795). AUNT: Susannah Wilkinson (?-1774),
who married John Addison (1713-1764). HALF
AUNTS: Mary Holdsworth (1713-?), who married
Benson Bond (1710-1750); Betty Holdsworth
(1715-?), who married James Heighe (?- 1757).
OTHER KINSHIP: great-grandfather, Walter Smith
(?-1711). MARRIED on February 24, 1774, Ann

Herbert Dent (1756-1813), daughter of John Dent,
of George (ca. 1733-1809) and wife Sarah Mar-
shall (1735-1795). Ann was the granddaughter
of George Dent (1690-1754). She was the niece
of George Dent (?-1785); Elizabeth Dent, who
married second, Richard Harrison (?-1780); Re-
becca Dent (1735-1770), who married Thomas
Hanson Marshall (1731-1801); and Thomas Han-
son Marshall (1731-1801). Her brothers were
George Dent (ca. 1758-1813); Thomas M. (1761-
1823). Her sister was Elizabeth (1754-died young).
ADDITIONAL COMMENT: Ann resided in Adams
County, Mississippi, at death. CHILDREN. SONS:

1783. MILITARY SERVICE: captain, Lower Battal-
ion, Prince George's County Militia, 1777. WEALTH

DURING LIFETIME. PERSONAL PROPERTY: assessed

value £828.0.0, including 14 slaves and 12 oz.
plate, 1783; 29 slaves, 1790; 30 slaves, 1798. LAND
AT FIRST ELECTION: 1,813 acres in Charles and
Prince George's counties (1,313 acres inherited
from his father, 500 acres by purchase). ADDI-
TIONAL COMMENT: At age nineteen, William ap-
plied to have his guardianship changed from his
uncle, Benjamin Mackall, Jr. (ca. 1723-1795), to
Thomas Truman. Mackall then paid £209.0.0 to
William as fourteen years' profits from 1,313 acres,
William's inheritance from his father that had been
administered by Mackall. This sum was less than
William thought was due him, and the court agreed.
In 1790 the court ordered Mackall to pay a final
judgment of £1,624.4.9 to his nephew. SIGNIFI-
CANT CHANGES IN LAND BETWEEN FIRST ELEC-
TION AND DEATH: purchased 130 acres in Charles
County, 1784; mortgaged 1,592 acres in Charles
County to pay his debts, 1790; sold 348 acres in
Prince George's County, 1784, and 646 acres in
Charles County, 1798; owned 948 acres in Charles
County in 1798. WEALTH AT DEATH. DIED: on March
12, 1799; will probated in Charles County. PER-
SONAL PROPERTY. TEV, £2,110.19.6 current
money (including 31 slaves and a water mill); FB,
estate overpaid £753.1.0. LAND: 948 acres in
Charles County.

WILLAN, RICHARD (ca. 1622-1663). BORN. ca.
1622, probably in England. IMMIGRATED: in 1638,
probably as a free adult. RESIDED: in St. Mary's
