and stepfather from Virginia. RESIDED: in St. Mi-
chael's Hundred, St. Mary's County; in Baltimore
(later became Cecil) County by 1668. FAMILY
BACKGROUND. FATHER: Oliver Vanhack (1600-by
1645), householder in Elizabeth City County,
Virginia, by 1637. STEPFATHER: George Mee (?-
1662). MOTHER: Catharine (1601-?). MARRIED
Sarah (?-ca. 1677), daughter of Thomas Howell
(?-1675) and wife Elizabeth, stepdaughter of
Jonathan Sybray (?-1684). Her brothers were John
(ca. 1658-ca. 1683); Nathaniel (?-1688). CHIL-
DREN. DAUGHTER: Sarah (1676-?), who married
ca. 1691/92 Stephen Coleman (?-by ca. 1702) and
moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by ca. 1702.
Sarah was involved in a lengthy court case as a
