Hill Town, Worcester County (117 acres by pat-
ent, 505 acres by purchase, and 140 acres through
marriage). SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN LAND BE-
TWEEN FIRST ELECTION AND DEATH: acquired 1,429
acres in Worcester County, 1784-1790, and 5 lots
in Snow Hill; disposed of 183 acres and parts of
2 lots in Snow Hill during those same years. Be-
tween 1791 and his death, he purchased 769 acres
in Worcester County and 4 lots in Snow Hill,
selling 1,021 acres and 4 lots. Part of the acreage
was owned in partnership with six others and was
described in a 1797 Chancery Court case as "poor
beach land." In 1794, he sold a 153-acre tract
that had been attached by a writ of fieri facias to
satisfy a judgment against him in Worcester County
Court. The purchaser relinquished his claim to
the title when the land was seized and sold by the
